About Us

The association bears the name "Spiele Gesellschaft Solothurn" (SGS) and is based in Solothurn. The association also uses the names "Société des Jeux de Soleure" (French), "Società dei Giochi di Soletta" (Italian), and "Solothurn Gaming Society" (English).

The association aims to promote board game culture and unlock the diverse potential of communal play for various target groups. It seeks to provide a valuable space for genuine encounters, intellectual challenges, and personal development.

Membership is open to all natural and legal persons who support the association's purpose. The association offers the following membership categories:

1. Basic Membership: CHF 50.- per year
   • Participation in all regular game meet-ups at the association's premises
   • Access to association events at member prices
   • Voting rights at the General Assembly
   • No game lending option
2. Family Membership: CHF 80.- per year
   • Applies to all family members living in the same household
   • Same rights as Basic Membership
   • Only one vote per family at the General Assembly
   • No game lending option
3. Premium Membership: CHF 160.- per year
   • All benefits of Basic Membership
   • General option to borrow games (max. 2 games for 1 week)
   • Priority registration for events
   • Special rarities and valuable collector's items are excluded from lending
4. Sponsoring Membership: CHF 220.- or more per year
   • All benefits of Premium Membership
   • Named mention as a sponsor (if desired)
   • Exclusive invitations to special association events
5. Legal Entities / Corporate Membership: CHF 340.- per year
   • Mention as a partner on the association's website/in association publications
   • Option for one corporate game event per year
   • Voting rights through a representative
6. Honorary Membership
   • Awarded by the General Assembly upon proposal by the Board
   • Exemption from fees
   • All rights of Premium Membership

Admission to the association can take place at any time; applications for admission should be addressed to the Board.

Members have the right to:

• Participate in the association's events
• Utilize the association's facilities according to their membership category
• Attend and vote at the General Assembly (as per the Statutes)

Members have the obligation to:

• Promote the association's objectives
• Comply with the association's Statutes
• Handle the association's games and facilities with care
• Pay the annual membership fee

All members are expected to treat each other with respect:

• We foster an open and welcoming atmosphere for all players, regardless of experience level, origin, gender, age, or other personal characteristics
• Discriminatory or offensive behaviour will not be tolerated
• In case of conflicts during play, a peaceful resolution should be sought
• We respect the games and handle them with care
• We strive for fair and sporting gameplay, where enjoyment and shared experience are paramount
• We support new players and are happy to share our knowledge
• We respect the rules of the games and the association

In the event of violations of the Code of Conduct, the Board reserves the right to take appropriate measures, which may lead to expulsion from the association.

The organs of the association are:

• The General Assembly (supreme organ of the association)
• The Board

The General Assembly takes place annually in the first quarter and decides on fundamental association matters such as elections, statutes, finances, and the direction of the association.

The Board conducts the ongoing business of the association and consists of at least two persons, at its founding comprising:
